Throwback Thursday: Ramona and Her Father

Ramona and Her Father by Beverly Cleary focuses on a tough time for the Quimby family.  Ramona's father has lost his job and the whole family has to make sacrifices until he can start working again.  Ramona thinks that if she is cute enough, she can get cast in a tv commercial, but she learns that what is cute on tv is not as charming in real life.  In addition to these concerns, she is also trying to help her father quit smoking.  Even in difficult times, the Quimby family remains close and loving.

This is my favorite of all the Ramona books.  Recommended for grades 2-4.
